Acrylics on 11”X14” canvas
The original picture on a moon cake tin box is of a girl with wide open eyes, looking at the camera. I depicted my girl in a sad mood because she had to entertain, mostly for men, in old China. I also “designed” her dress. I had fun painting her because I did not have to capture...anybody's likeness  However, I hope I have succeeded in capturing the sadness of some girls in the long past. Please give me feedback. Thanks! |

Nancy might have a point though: It's pretty clear (at least to another "Asian" like me) that it is a Chinese lampion in the upper right corner, but I agree that this is a bit distracting. I think the picture would work even better without it, everything else being just great!
