Hibiscus

Watercolors on 14” X 18” Arches 140lb CP paper.

I suck at painting flowers :( It began with my laboriously sketched image, flower complete with leaves. Then, during the painting process, I got bored with details, so… abracadabra, I made all the stems and leaves disappear in the background washes.

Hope you still like it

lol... you're so funny :D

but, you are the creator of the painting, and so of course can present it any way that pleases you, and chances are, it will please us too :)

You caught the light on the flower beautifully.
As for the background.....well, I'm sure you'll call it artistic license, but I feel a leaf or two and the others just hinted at would have been nice. Now that lovely flower looks a bit lost and unconnected to the background, like someone ripped it off and tossed it away.
But, hey.... that's just me..... ;)
